Ciao Readers!
Well, I think I am about done showing you around Paris and Amsterdam (for this trip). So, it’s back to Italy we go. I have been trying to find a way to humorously explain how aggravated I felt at coming back into Italy and again having to fight for my life getting on and off the train, breathing in all of the smoke (in Paris there are no smoking signs on the platforms and I saw them being enforced!) and just feeling all around less civilized than I had in Paris and Amsterdam.
At the same time, I have also been trying to find a way to incorporate this very funny video (produced by an Italian) which explores exactly these issues. So, instead of listening to me being grumpy, I share with you a very funny look at “Italy v. Europe” (and I agree with all of it except the coffee part). It’s worth the few minutes, really! Enjoy….
Have a great weekend!

/ March 15, 2013Hehe, this one is a classic. I ‘love’ the parking one and the queue. 😉 The funny thing is, I’ve found the worst drivers to be in Florence (and Rome)….not driving per se, but for pedestrians and right of way. I’ve never had any issues crossing in a bunch of other cities. I used to think it was just luck, but as the total builds and with multiple visits, I’m doubting it. haha.

/ March 15, 2013Ha. Yes, it seems many people here have seen this video, hopefully not so with my U.S./international readers. This year 2 teachers at Steve’s school have been hit by cars while walking (just taps, fortunately). I myself am ashamed to say I’ve resorted to “Midnight Cowboy” on more than one occasion – tapping on the window of a car that almost hit me to get the driver’s attention and then gesticulating!

/ March 15, 2013The video was entertaining, but I got a bigger kick out picturing you as Ratso Rizzo: “I’m walking here!!! I’m walking here!!!” Did you say it in Italian?

/ March 15, 2013Honestly, I said it in English my best NY accent – entertaining, maybe, civilized – absolutely not. I had no idea until I was looking for a video clip of the scene that Dustin Hoffman ad-libbed it when a taxi drove past a barrier into the scene.

/ March 15, 2013Oh, to make it even more ridiculous – this last time was after I broke my toe – so I actually am walking in about the same manner as Ratso

/ March 15, 2013Clever video with a simple and entertaining presentation. I didn’t get the cell phone one, though…?

/ March 16, 2013I haven’t really noticed that one – everyone answering their cells when one person’s rings – that was the weakest one in the humor department I suppose
